Privacy

The shortest privacy policy you'll read today, because there's almost nothing to disclose:

  • No accounts. You can't sign up even if you want to.
  • No personal tracking. We count page views and a few anonymous product events (a lesson was completed, a test was finished and roughly how fast, a result was shared) with Plausible, a privacy-first, cookieless, EU-hosted analytics tool. It collects no personal data, never sees the text you type, stores nothing on your device, and can't follow you across sites. That's the site's only third-party request, and you can switch it off: turn Analytics off in the cookie notice and the Plausible script is not loaded, so your visits are not counted.
  • One cookie. The site sets one first-party cookie, kd_consent, which records the choice you make in the cookie notice so we do not ask again. It lasts 180 days, is mirrored in your browser's local storage under kd-consent, and holds nothing about you beyond that choice. If you leave the notice unanswered it closes itself after about twenty seconds and records what is already running: Essential on, Functional off, Analytics on. Nothing new starts at that moment, and Your privacy choices in the footer of every page reopens your preferences at any time.
  • Your language choice. When you pick a language in the footer, or dismiss the bar that offers one, the site keeps that choice in your browser's local storage under kd-lang and kd-lang-dismissed so it can offer the right language next time without asking again. Nothing else is stored, nothing is sent anywhere, and the site never redirects you based on your browser language.
  • Your progress stays on your device. Lesson stars, stats, settings and your theme are saved in your browser's local storage while Functional is on in the cookie notice; switch it off and they are removed and no longer kept between visits. Clearing site data erases them too; the export button in Settings makes a backup file you control.
  • Shared results carry only the numbers. A shared result link contains the WPM, accuracy, raw speed and consistency you chose to share, and nothing else. We store nothing when you share.
  • Embeds behave the same. When another site embeds the typing test, the same rules apply inside the frame: no personal data, one Plausible request.
  • Shopping links. The keyboards guide links to product pages on Amazon. Those links may carry an affiliate tag that earns keydrills a small commission; Amazon's own privacy policy applies once you are on their site. Nothing about your visit here is sent to them.
  • Support payments. Optional support payments are handled by Ko-fi and Stripe on their own websites. We do not see your card details. Ko-fi sends us your display name, email address, message and amount so we can thank you and keep accounting records. Nothing from Ko-fi loads here until you click the support link.
