About keydrills
A complete touch typing course that stays out of the way: no ads, no account, no funnel. Your progress never leaves this browser.
What this is
keydrills is a free, browser-based trainer for learning to type without looking at the keyboard. The course is 72 short lessons across 8 chapters, from the home-row anchors F and J through numbers, symbols, fluency drills, and timed speed work. A realistic total is about five hours of typing, spread across two to four weeks of 10–15 minute sessions.
Next to the lessons sit a 1 / 3 / 5 minute typing test and practice modes for common words, sentences, paragraphs, and an adaptive drill built from the keys you actually miss. Nothing is locked. Nothing is sold.
Why it exists
Most typing sites are either a classroom product with ads and accounts, or a speed-test toy with no curriculum. The first kind interrupts you; the second never teaches the skill. keydrills is the remaining shape: a structured path, a strict accuracy bar, and a page that does not ask who you are.
The design constraint is privacy by architecture, not by policy. There is no server for user data. Stars, stats, and settings live in this browser's local storage under a versioned key. You can export a backup from Settings and import it on another machine. Clearing site data erases them. That is the whole model.
How the curriculum was designed
The sequence is the classic touch-typing progression: home row, top row, bottom row, Shift and punctuation, numbers, symbols, then fluency and speed. Each lesson introduces a small set of keys, then mixes them with everything already unlocked. A generator builds the drills from those key sets plus a frequency word list and curated sentences — so a lesson never asks for a character you have not been taught.
Passing requires 90% accuracy. Speed is a side effect of clean repetition, not a target you chase on day one. That rule is the whole method; the touch typing guide spells it out, and the on-screen keyboard shows which finger owns the next key so you never have to guess.
Who runs it
keydrills is built and run by Elowin Labs LLC. There is no team page of headshots and no venture story — it is a small studio shipping a tool we wanted to exist. Questions, corrections, and curriculum notes go to hello@elowinlabs.com.
The only third-party request the site makes is cookieless page-view analytics via Plausible. That, and the rest of the data story, is on the privacy page.

No account. The first drill is F and J, and it takes about two minutes.
